**Tim Long** (born June 14, 1969) is a comedy writer born in [Brandon, Manitoba](/source/Brandon%2C_Manitoba), Canada. Long calls [Exeter, Ontario](/source/Exeter%2C_Ontario), his home town and has written for *[The Simpsons](/source/The_Simpsons)*, *[Politically Incorrect](/source/Politically_Incorrect)*, *[Spy](/source/Spy_(magazine))* magazine and the *[Late Show with David Letterman](/source/Late_Show_with_David_Letterman)*. Currently credited as a co-executive producer on *The Simpsons*, Long was - until Season 20 - credited as an [executive producer](/source/Executive_producer). His work has also recently appeared in *[The New York Times](/source/The_New_York_Times)* and *[The New Yorker](/source/The_New_Yorker)*. He also wrote the episode "Mr Roboto" for YTV's *[Mr. Young](/source/Mr._Young)*.

Long was also a consulting writer on *[The Simpsons Movie](/source/The_Simpsons_Movie)*.

He attended high school at South Huron District High School in [Exeter, Ontario](/source/Exeter%2C_Ontario), [Canada](/source/Canada).

Long graduated from [University College](/source/University_College%2C_University_of_Toronto) at the [University of Toronto](/source/University_of_Toronto) with a major in English Literature and pursued graduate studies in English at [Columbia University](/source/Columbia_University). He was an intern at *Spy* magazine under E. Graydon Carter before joining the staff of *The David Letterman Show*, where he wrote for three years, including one year as Head Writer. He has won five Emmy awards, and been nominated for eight others.
