# Tim Freeman

**Tim J. Freeman** (born January 1965) is a small business owner and [Republican](/source/Oregon_Republican_Party) politician from the [U.S. state](/source/U.S._state) of [Oregon](/source/Oregon). In [2008](/source/Oregon_legislative_elections,_2008), he was elected to the [Oregon House of Representatives](/source/Oregon_House_of_Representatives) representing District 2, which encompasses portions of [Douglas](/source/Douglas_County,_Oregon), [Jackson](/source/Jackson_County,_Oregon), and [Josephine](/source/Josephine_County) counties, including the cities of [Canyonville](/source/Canyonville,_Oregon), [Glendale](/source/Glendale,_Oregon), [Myrtle Creek](/source/Myrtle_Creek,_Oregon), [Riddle](/source/Riddle,_Oregon), and [Roseburg](/source/Roseburg,_Oregon).

## Early life and career

Freeman was born in [Santa Monica, California](/source/Santa_Monica,_California) and was raised in [Oakland, Oregon](/source/Oakland,_Oregon). He graduated from [Oakland High School](/source/Oakland_High_School_(Oregon)) in 1983 and attended the [Oregon Institute of Technology](/source/Oregon_Institute_of_Technology), where he studied computer systems engineering technology.[1] He worked as a field mechanic for a [logging](/source/Logging) company and in 1991, he became the owner of the Garden Valley Shell [service station](/source/Filling_station) in [Roseburg](/source/Roseburg,_Oregon). In 2007, Freeman graduated from the Douglas County Citizen Law Enforcement Academy.[1][2]

## Political career

Freeman has served on the Roseburg City Council since 2003, and served as council president for three years. From 2006 to 2007, he was the chair of the General Government Committee for the [League of Oregon Cities](/source/League_of_Oregon_Cities).[1] In 2008, he ran for the seat in the [Oregon House of Representatives](/source/Oregon_House_of_Representatives) vacated by [Susan Morgan](/source/Susan_Morgan_(politician)), who did not seek re-election. Freeman defeated [Roseburg](/source/Roseburg,_Oregon) businessman Jim Fox in the Republican primary, and then defeated Democrat Harry McDermott in the general election.[3]

Freeman and his wife Angelia live in Roseburg and have two children.[2]
