## History

The moshav was established in 1953 by [Moroccan](/source/Morocco) [immigrants and refugees](/source/Jewish_exodus_from_Arab_and_Muslim_countries). Its name is taken from the [Book of Isaiah](/source/Book_of_Isaiah), specifically Isaiah 41:19:

I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia-tree, and the myrtle, and the oil-tree; I will set in the desert the cypress, the **plane-tree**, and the larch together;[1]

Two other nearby moshavim, [Brosh](/source/Brosh,_Israel) (cypress) and [Ta'ashur](/source/Ta'ashur) (larch) take their name from this passage and the three of them are known as the [Moshavei Yahdav](/source/Moshavei_Yahdav) (lit. 'Together Moshavim').
