# Thringarth

**Thringarth** is a hamlet[1] in [Lunedale](/source/Lunedale), in the [Pennines](/source/Pennines) of England. It is [traditionally](/source/Historic_counties_of_England) located in the [North Riding of Yorkshire](/source/North_Riding_of_Yorkshire) but along with the rest of the former [Startforth Rural District](/source/Startforth_Rural_District) it was transferred to [County Durham](/source/County_Durham) for [administrative](/source/Metropolitan_and_non-metropolitan_counties_of_England) and [ceremonial](/source/Ceremonial_counties_of_England) purposes on 1 April 1974, under the provisions of the [Local Government Act 1972](/source/Local_Government_Act_1972).
