# Thor Thorvaldsen

**Thor Thorvaldsen** (31 May 1909 – 30 June 1987)[1] was a Norwegian [sailor](/source/Sailboat_racing) and Olympic champion. He was born in [Bamble](/source/Bamble) and died in [Bærum](/source/B%C3%A6rum). He competed at the [1948 Summer Olympics](/source/1948_Summer_Olympics) in London, where he received a gold medal in the [dragon](/source/Dragon_(keelboat)) class as [helmsman](/source/Helmsman) on the boat *Pan*.[2]

He competed at the [1952 Summer Olympics](/source/1952_Summer_Olympics) in Helsinki, where he again received a gold medal with *Pan*.[3]
