The **Thompson Site** is a [Fort Ancient culture](/source/Fort_Ancient_culture) [archaeological site](/source/Archaeological_site) located near [South Portsmouth](/source/South_Portsmouth%2C_Kentucky) in [Greenup County, Kentucky](/source/Greenup_County%2C_Kentucky), US, next to the [Ohio River](/source/Ohio_River) across from the mouth of the [Scioto River](/source/Scioto_River).

The Site was occupied during the Croghan Phase (1100 to 1200) of the local chronology and was a contemporary of Baum Phase sites in the Scioto River valley.[1]
