# Thomas William Chapple

**Thomas William Chapple** (February 10, 1857 – November 10, 1926)[1] was an [Ontario](/source/Ontario) lawyer and political figure. He represented [Ontario North](/source/Ontario_North_(provincial_electoral_district)) in the [Legislative Assembly of Ontario](/source/Legislative_Assembly_of_Ontario) from 1894 to 1898 as a [Liberal](/source/Liberal_Party_of_Ontario) member.

He was born in [Kilkenny](/source/Kilkenny), [Ireland](/source/Ireland) in 1853, the son of William Chapple, a captain in the British Army. He was educated in [London](/source/London) and in [Newcastle, Ontario](/source/Newcastle,_Ontario). He was called to the Ontario bar and set up practice in [Uxbridge](/source/Uxbridge,_Ontario). Chapple was named judge for the [Rainy River District](/source/Rainy_River_District,_Ontario) in 1898, serving until his death.

The township of [Chapple](/source/Chapple,_Ontario) in Rainy River District was named in his honour.
