**Thomas Sheehan** (born 25 June 1941) is an American philosopher. He is a professor emeritus of [religious studies](/source/Religious_studies) at [Stanford University](/source/Stanford_University) and a professor emeritus of philosophy at [Loyola University Chicago](/source/Loyola_University_Chicago). His philosophical specialties are in [philosophy of religion](/source/Philosophy_of_religion), twentieth-century [European philosophy](/source/European_philosophy), and [classical metaphysics](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Classical_metaphysics&action=edit&redlink=1).[1][2][3] He is the author of *The First Coming*, a controversial[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] account of Easter.
