# Thomas Resch

**Thomas Resch** (1460-1520) [1] was an [Austrian](/source/Austria) [Renaissance humanist](/source/Renaissance_humanist). He went by the [Latin](/source/Latin) name of **Thomas Velocianus**. He was a member of a circle of humanists based in [Vienna](/source/Vienna). This circle included the scholars [Georg Tannstetter](/source/Georg_Tannstetter), [Johannes Stabius](/source/Johannes_Stabius), [Stiborius](/source/Stiborius), Stefan Rosinus (1470-1548),[2] [Johannes Cuspinianus](/source/Johannes_Cuspinianus), and the reformer [Joachim Vadianus](/source/Joachim_Vadianus). These humanists were associated with the court of [Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor](/source/Maximilian_I,_Holy_Roman_Emperor).[3]
