# Thomas Perlmann

**Rolf Thomas Perlmann** (born March 2, 1959, in [Stockholm](/source/Stockholm), [Sweden](/source/Sweden)) is a professor of molecular [developmental biology](/source/Developmental_biology) at [Karolinska Institute](/source/Karolinska_Institute).[1] In 2006, he became a member of the [Nobel Assembly at the Karolinska Institute](/source/Nobel_Assembly_at_the_Karolinska_Institute). He became an adjunct member of Karolinska Institutet's [Nobel Committee](/source/Nobel_Committee) in 2008 and was then elected in 2012. He has been Secretary for the [Nobel Committee for Physiology or Medicine](/source/Nobel_Committee_for_Physiology_or_Medicine) since 2016.[2]

In 2022, he was elected a member of the [Academia Europaea](/source/Academia_Europaea).[3]
