==Governance==

The village lies within the Thirsk and Malton UK Parliament constituency. From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the [Hambleton District](/source/Hambleton_District), it is now administered by the unitary [North Yorkshire Council](/source/North_Yorkshire_Council).

==Geography==

According to the 2001 UK Census, the village had a population of 127, of which 103 were over the age of sixteen. Of these, 68 were in employment.
