== Career ==
Thilo Berg completed studies as a classical percussionist with Herrmann Gschwendtner and was a solo timpanist and percussionist in the ''[Southwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra](/source/Southwest_German_Radio_Symphony_Orchestra)'' between 1981 and 2007. He also held the same position at the German ''Radio Philharmonic Orchestra'' until 2008. In addition to this, Berg worked in various bands. In 1986 he formed his big band and worked with guest soloists such as [Barbara Dennerlein](/source/Barbara_Dennerlein), [Ack van Rooyen](/source/Ack_van_Rooyen), [Jiggs Whigham](/source/Jiggs_Whigham), [Barbara Morrison](/source/Barbara_Morrison), [Silvia Droste](/source/Silvia_Droste), [Jim Snidero](/source/Jim_Snidero), [Slide Hampton](/source/Slide_Hampton), [Bob Mintzer](/source/Bob_Mintzer), [Art Farmer](/source/Art_Farmer) and [Bill Ramsey](/source/Bill_Ramsey_(singer)).<ref name="About Mons Records"/>

Together until 1993, the band included musicians such as [Till Brönner](/source/Till_Br%C3%B6nner), [Paul Heller](/source/Paul_Heller), [Peter Weniger](/source/Peter_Weniger), [Ludwig Nuss](/source/Ludwig_Nuss), [Mark Nightingale](/source/Mark_Nightingale), [Gerald Presencer](/source/Gerald_Presencer) and [Martin Shaw](/source/Martin_Shaw), as well as the pianist [Hubert Nuss](/source/Hubert_Nuss) and [Thilo Wagner](/source/Thilo_Wagner).

The work of the big band was documented on three albums. Berg also worked in smaller groups with musicians such as: Jack van Poll, [Bobby Shew](/source/Bobby_Shew), Heiner Franz, John Gordon, Elaine Delmare and [Curtis Fuller](/source/Curtis_Fuller).

Thilo Berg founded the jazz and classical music label [Mons Records](/source/Mons_Records) in [Trippstadt](/source/Trippstadt) in 1991, and has worked as a music producer for [Sony Music](/source/Sony_Music), [BMG](/source/Bertelsmann_Music_Group), [Columbia](/source/Columbia_Records) and Universal. Mons Records released around fifteen albums a year.
