# The Weeknd in Japan

***The Weeknd in Japan*** is the first [greatest hits album](/source/Greatest_hits_album) by Canadian singer-songwriter [the Weeknd](/source/The_Weeknd).[1] It features singles from his first three studio albums: *[Kiss Land](/source/Kiss_Land)* (2013), *[Beauty Behind the Madness](/source/Beauty_Behind_the_Madness)* (2015) and *[Starboy](/source/Starboy_(album))* (2016), his 2015 feature, "[Might Not](/source/Might_Not)", from [Belly](/source/Belly_(rapper))'s eighth mixtape, *[Up for Days](/source/Up_for_Days)* (2015) and the songs "[Call Out My Name](/source/Call_Out_My_Name)" and "[Wasted Times](/source/Wasted_Times_(The_Weeknd_song))" from his EP *[My Dear Melancholy](/source/My_Dear_Melancholy)* (2018).[2] It was released, digitally and physically, exclusively in Japan on November 21, 2018, by [Universal Music Japan](/source/Universal_Music_Japan).[3] The album's release occurred shortly before the start of [the Weeknd Asia Tour](/source/The_Weeknd_Asia_Tour) (2018).[4]

## Release and artwork

*The Weeknd in Japan* was released on November 21, 2018, by [Universal Music Japan](/source/Universal_Music_Japan) to commemorate Tesfaye's first performance in Japan, at the [Makuhari Messe](/source/Makuhari_Messe) in December 2018, as a part of his 2018 tour, [the Weeknd Asia Tour](/source/The_Weeknd_Asia_Tour).[5] It follows the release of his EP *[My Dear Melancholy](/source/My_Dear_Melancholy)*, which was released earlier in the year,[6] and includes various songs from the setlists of his aforementioned tour.[7]

The album's cover incorporates various aspects of the posters which were used to promote the Weeknd Asia Tour (2018).[8][9]
