***The Talking Robe*** (Hungarian: ***A beszélő köntös***) is a 1942 Hungarian [historical](/source/Historical_film) [fantasy](/source/Fantasy_film) [adventure film](/source/Adventure_film) directed by [Géza von Radványi](/source/G%C3%A9za_von_Radv%C3%A1nyi) and starring [Pál Jávor](/source/P%C3%A1l_J%C3%A1vor_(actor)), [Maria von Tasnady](/source/Maria_von_Tasnady) and [László Szilassy](/source/L%C3%A1szl%C3%B3_Szilassy).[1][2] It was based on [Kálmán Mikszáth](/source/K%C3%A1lm%C3%A1n_Miksz%C3%A1th)'s 1889 novel of the same title. It was shot partially in colour at the [Hunnia Studios](/source/Hunnia_Studios) in [Budapest](/source/Budapest). The film's sets were designed by the [art directors](/source/Art_director) [István Básthy](/source/Istv%C3%A1n_B%C3%A1sthy) and [Sándor Iliszi](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=S%C3%A1ndor_Iliszi&action=edit&redlink=1). It was the first Hungarian film with outdoor scenes utilising [Agfacolor](/source/Agfacolor) colour technology.[3] It was distributed in Italy, Hungary's wartime ally, by [Titanus](/source/Titanus). It was later remade as a 1969 film of the same name.
