***The Sheridan Family*** is a c.1776 [portrait painting](/source/Portrait_painting) by the Anglo-American artist [Benjamin West](/source/Benjamin_West). It depicts the Irish playwright [Richard Brinsley Sheridan](/source/Richard_Brinsley_Sheridan) and his English wife [Elizabeth Ann Linley](/source/Elizabeth_Ann_Linley), a noted singer, with their young son [Thomas](/source/Thomas_Sheridan_(soldier)).[1][2] West had moved to Britain after a stay in [Rome](/source/Rome). He enjoyed success with his [history paintings](/source/History_painting) such as *[The Death of General Wolfe](/source/The_Death_of_General_Wolfe)* as well as portraits.

Today the painting is in the collection of the [Walker Art Gallery](/source/Walker_Art_Gallery) in Liverpool, avinf been acquired in 1933.[3]
