**The Section Quartet** is a [string quartet](/source/String_quartet) founded by Eric Gorfain that performs cover versions of rock songs.[1]

## History

[Eric Gorfain](/source/Eric_Gorfain) founded the quartet after working for the 1996 tour of [Robert Plant](/source/Robert_Plant) and [Jimmy Page](/source/Jimmy_Page). He said the quartet fulfilled his desire to play lead guitar in a rock band. The debut album, *No Electricity Required* (2004), contained Gorfain's [arrangement](/source/Arrangement) of "[Dazed and Confused](/source/Dazed_and_Confused_(Jake_Holmes_song))" by Led Zeppelin in addition to cover versions of songs by [Coldplay](/source/Coldplay), [Kiss](/source/Kiss_(band)), [Iron Maiden](/source/Iron_Maiden), and [Queens of the Stone Age](/source/Queens_of_the_Stone_Age).[2]

The Section Quartet consists of Gorfain on violin, Daphne Chen on violin, Richard Dodd on cello, and Leah Katz on viola. They have performed on soundtracks and pop music albums, such as *[Stripped](/source/Stripped_(Christina_Aguilera_album))* ([RCA](/source/RCA_Records), 2002) by [Christina Aguilera](/source/Christina_Aguilera). Their performance on "[Beautiful](/source/Beautiful_(Christina_Aguilera_song))" impressed the songwriter, [Linda Perry](/source/Linda_Perry). She produced the quartet's album *Fuzzbox* (2007) for [Decca Records](/source/Decca_Records), which reached number 14 on the [Billboard](/source/Billboard_(magazine)) Classical Crossover Chart.[3][4][5][6]
