# The Quirk

***The Quirk*** was a for-charity [literary magazine](/source/Literary_magazine) which publishes work from poets and artists across the world. It printed work from a wide array of writers, including [W.D. Snodgrass](/source/W.D._Snodgrass), [Yusef Komunyakaa](/source/Yusef_Komunyakaa), [Robert Bly](/source/Robert_Bly), [Naomi Shihab Nye](/source/Naomi_Shihab_Nye), [Alberto Rios](/source/Alberto_Rios), [Dorianne Laux](/source/Dorianne_Laux), [Daisy Fried](/source/Daisy_Fried), [Diane di Prima](/source/Diane_di_Prima), [Jim Daniels](/source/Jim_Daniels), [Alicia Ostriker](/source/Alicia_Ostriker), and many others. The magazine was founded in 2005 by [Kaveh Akbar](/source/Kaveh_Akbar) when he was a high school student.[1][2] He was also the editor, as a local general interest magazine. After thirteen issues, *The Quirk* premiered its first literary issue.

The magazine donated over $3,000 to good causes around the world, including [UNICEF](/source/UNICEF) and the Keep A Child Alive AIDS fund.[2]
