***The Phantom of Soho*** (German: ***Das Phantom von Soho***) is a 1964 West German [thriller film](/source/Thriller_film) directed by [Franz Josef Gottlieb](/source/Franz_Josef_Gottlieb) and starring [Dieter Borsche](/source/Dieter_Borsche), [Barbara Rütting](/source/Barbara_R%C3%BCtting) and [Hans Söhnker](/source/Hans_S%C3%B6hnker).[1] It was based on a novel by [Bryan Edgar Wallace](/source/Bryan_Edgar_Wallace) and was part of a large group of British-set thrillers made in West Germany at the time, [many of them adapted from the works](/source/Films_based_on_works_by_Edgar_Wallace) of Wallace's father [Edgar Wallace](/source/Edgar_Wallace). It was shot at the [Spandau Studios](/source/Spandau_Studios) in [West Berlin](/source/West_Berlin) and [on location](/source/Location_shooting) in [London](/source/London).
