***The Kiss of Fire*** ([French](/source/French_language): ***Naples au baiser de feu***) is a 1937 French [romantic comedy](/source/Romantic_comedy) film directed by [Augusto Genina](/source/Augusto_Genina) and starring [Tino Rossi](/source/Tino_Rossi), [Michel Simon](/source/Michel_Simon), [Mireille Balin](/source/Mireille_Balin) and [Viviane Romance](/source/Viviane_Romance).[1] The film is based on the 1924 novel *Naples au baiser de feu* by [Auguste Bailly](/source/Auguste_Bailly). It had previously been made as a 1925 silent film and was later adapted again for a remake, *[Napoli terra d'amore](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Napoli_terra_d%27amore&action=edit&redlink=1)*, in 1954.

It was primarily shot at the [Saint-Laurent-du-Var Studios](/source/Saint-Laurent-du-Var_Studios) in [Nice](/source/Nice) with some [location shooting](/source/Location_shooting) in [Naples](/source/Naples). The film's sets were designed by the [art director](/source/Art_director) [Guy de Gastyne](/source/Guy_de_Gastyne).

## Synopsis

Mario Esposito a singer who performs in a [Naples](/source/Naples) [restaurant](/source/Restaurant) is in love with his owner's niece Assunta and wants to marry her. However through his friend Michel he encounters another woman, Lolita, who lures him away from his true love. Eventually he is able to see the mistake he is making.
