Heather McIntosh

**The Instruments** is the musical project of Heather McIntosh, cellist in a number of [Athens, Georgia](/source/Athens%2C_Georgia) groups including [Circulatory System](/source/Circulatory_System), [Elf Power](/source/Elf_Power), and [Japancakes](/source/Japancakes). They released three albums between 2003 and 2008. Other members of the band include [Peter Erchick](/source/Peter_Erchick), [Will Cullen Hart](/source/Will_Cullen_Hart), [John Fernandes](/source/John_Fernandes_(musician)), [Hannah Jones](/source/Hannah_M._Jones), [Jeff Mangum](/source/Jeff_Mangum), and [Derek Almstead](/source/Derek_Almstead).

McIntosh toured with [Gnarls Barkley](/source/Gnarls_Barkley) in 2008 as their bass player and later the same year played bass and cello on [Lil Wayne](/source/Lil_Wayne)'s tour.[1]

In 2009, Heather contributed cello to the tracks "Graze" and "Bleed" on [Animal Collective](/source/Animal_Collective)'s [Fall Be Kind](/source/Fall_Be_Kind) EP.[2]
