***The Holier It Gets*** is a Canadian documentary film, directed by [Jennifer Baichwal](/source/Jennifer_Baichwal) and released in 2000.[1] The film is a personal document of Baichwal and her family on a pilgrimage to [India](/source/India), honouring their father Krishna's wishes to have his ashes scattered at the source of the [Ganges](/source/Ganges) following his death.[2]

It was screened at the 2000 [Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival](/source/Hot_Docs_Canadian_International_Documentary_Festival), where it won the award for [Best Canadian Feature Documentary](/source/Hot_Docs_Award_for_Best_Canadian_Feature_Documentary).[3] It was distributed primarily on television, airing as an episode of [TVOntario](/source/TVOntario)'s documentary series *[The View from Here](/source/The_View_from_Here_(TV_series))* in 2000[4] and [Knowledge Network](/source/Knowledge_Network)'s *Perspectives* in 2001.[2]
