***The Fairy Doll*** ([German](/source/German_language): ***Die Puppenfee***) is a 1936 Austrian [romance film](/source/Romance_film) directed by [E.W. Emo](/source/E.W._Emo) and starring [Adele Sandrock](/source/Adele_Sandrock), [Magda Schneider](/source/Magda_Schneider) and [Paul Hörbiger](/source/Paul_H%C3%B6rbiger). It is based on the 1888 [ballet work by the same name](/source/The_Fairy_Doll_(ballet)) composed by [Josef Bayer](/source/Josef_Bayer), owing more to the [score](/source/Film_score) than the [libretto](/source/Libretto).[1] The film's sets were designed by the [art director](/source/Art_director) [Julius von Borsody](/source/Julius_von_Borsody). It marked the screen debut of future star [Hilde Krahl](/source/Hilde_Krahl).[2]
