***The Dichotomy*** is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter [David Kushner](/source/David_Kushner_(singer-songwriter)).[1] The album was released on August 30, 2024, through Kushner's independent music label Miserable Music Group.[2][3] Five of the songs off the album were released as [singles](/source/Single_(music)), "[Daylight](/source/Daylight_(David_Kushner_song))",[4] "Dead Man",[5] "[Skin and Bones](/source/Skin_and_Bones_(David_Kushner_song))",[6] "Hero",[7] and "Humankind".[8] The song "Darkerside" was not released as a single but also charted.[9] The genre is considered to be [pop](/source/Pop_music) and [gothic pop](/source/Gothic_pop).[10] The album was released to [digital download](/source/Music_download), [streaming](/source/Music_streaming_service), [CD](/source/CD), and [LP](/source/LP_record) formats.

The first single to be released from the album, "Daylight", achieved significant chart positions, hitting number 33 on the [*Billboard* Hot 100](/source/Billboard_Hot_100),[11] #1 in several countries, including [the Netherlands](/source/Dutch_Single_Top_100),[12] [New Zealand](/source/Official_New_Zealand_Music_Chart),[13] and [Switzerland](/source/Swiss_Hitparade),[14] and #4 in Australia. It additionally received multiplatinum [certifications](/source/Music_recording_certification) in several countries.[15][16][17] The album was certified gold by [Music Canada](/source/Music_Canada), on September 5, 2024.[17]
