***The Czar's Courier*** ([German](/source/German_language): ***Der Kurier des Zaren***) is a 1936 German [historical drama](/source/Historical_drama) film directed by [Richard Eichberg](/source/Richard_Eichberg) and starring [Anton Walbrook](/source/Anton_Walbrook), [Lucie Höflich](/source/Lucie_H%C3%B6flich), and [Maria Andergast](/source/Maria_Andergast). It is an adaptation of [Jules Verne](/source/Jules_Verne)'s 1876 novel *[Michael Strogoff](/source/Michael_Strogoff)*.[1]

It was shot at the [Johannisthal Studios](/source/Johannisthal_Studios) in [Berlin](/source/Berlin) and [on location](/source/Location_filming) in [Bulgaria](/source/Bulgaria). The film's sets were designed by the [art directors](/source/Art_director) [Willi Herrmann](/source/Willi_Herrmann) and [Alfred Bütow](/source/Alfred_B%C3%BCtow). A separate French-language version, *[Michel Strogoff](/source/Michel_Strogoff_(1936_film))*, was also produced.
