The English [rock](/source/Rock_music) band [the Cure](/source/The_Cure) has released fourteen [studio albums](/source/Studio_album), seven [live albums](/source/Live_album), three [remix albums](/source/Remix_album), seven [compilation albums](/source/Compilation_album), eight [box sets](/source/Box_set), twelve [extended plays](/source/Extended_play) and forty-seven [singles](/source/Single_(music)) on [Fiction Records](/source/Fiction_Records) and [Geffen Records](/source/Geffen_Records). They have also released twelve [video albums](/source/Video_album) and forty-four [music videos](/source/Music_video).

Formed in 1976,[1][2][3] the Cure grew out of a band known as [Malice](/source/Malice_(UK_band)). Malice formed in January 1976 and underwent several line-up changes and a name change to [Easy Cure](/source/Easy_Cure)[4] before The Cure was founded in May 1978. The Cure's original line-up consisted of guitarist/vocalist [Robert Smith](/source/Robert_Smith_(musician)), drummer [Laurence "Lol" Tolhurst](/source/Lol_Tolhurst) and bassist [Michael Dempsey](/source/Michael_Dempsey). The band has continued through various line-ups; Smith is the group's only remaining original member. The line-up as of 2024 consisted of Smith, bassist [Simon Gallup](/source/Simon_Gallup), keyboard player [Roger O'Donnell](/source/Roger_O'Donnell), multi-instrumentalist [Perry Bamonte](/source/Perry_Bamonte), guitarist [Reeves Gabrels](/source/Reeves_Gabrels) and drummer [Jason Cooper](/source/Jason_Cooper).

The Cure's debut album, *[Three Imaginary Boys](/source/Three_Imaginary_Boys)* (1979), reached number 44 on the [UK Albums Chart](/source/UK_Albums_Chart).[5] The next two albums, *[Seventeen Seconds](/source/Seventeen_Seconds)* (1980) and *[Faith](/source/Faith_(The_Cure_album))* (1981), were top 20 hits in the UK, reaching number 20 and number 14 respectively.[5] Between 1982 and 1996, the Cure released seven studio albums, all of which reached the Top 10 in the UK.[5] The most successful of these was *[Wish](/source/Wish_(The_Cure_album))* (1992) which reached number one in the UK and number two on the US [*Billboard* 200](/source/Billboard_200).[5][6] They released the next album *[Wild Mood Swings](/source/Wild_Mood_Swings)* in 1996. The following three studio albums – *[Bloodflowers](/source/Bloodflowers)* (2000), *[The Cure](/source/The_Cure_(The_Cure_album))* (2004) and *[4:13 Dream](/source/4%3A13_Dream)* (2008) – had mixed success, reaching numbers 14, 8 and 33 in the UK respectively.[5][7] The group released their fourteenth album, *[Songs of a Lost World](/source/Songs_of_a_Lost_World)*, in 2024, the group's first new album in sixteen years.[8] It was their first album since *Wish* to reach number one in the UK,[9] and was also one of the fastest selling albums of 2024, having at one point outsold the entire top 10 of the week combined.[10]
