***The 7th Dimension*** is the [BBC](/source/BBC)'s regular [radio](/source/Radio) slot for [science fiction](/source/Science_fiction), [fantasy](/source/Fantasy) and [horror](/source/Horror_fiction).[1] It is broadcast on the [digital](/source/Digital_data) radio station [BBC Radio 4 Extra](/source/BBC_Radio_4_Extra) at midnight ([GMT](/source/GMT) in winter, [BST](/source/British_Summer_Time) in summer) on Saturdays and Sundays, and repeated at 4 p.m. on each weekend day. The original and still frequent host is [Nicholas Briggs](/source/Nicholas_Briggs), but other hosts include [Toby Hadoke](/source/Toby_Hadoke), [Natalie Haynes](/source/Natalie_Haynes) and [Nicola Walker](/source/Nicola_Walker). Most of the programs are full cast [dramatizations](/source/Radio_drama) and the remainder are book readings. *The 7th Dimension* has hosted both standalone stories and serials. Most of the programs are drawn from the BBC's extensive archives and have previously been aired on other BBC stations. A few *7th Dimension* shows are new commissions, such as *[Undone](/source/Undone_(radio_series))*, *[The Spaceship](/source/The_Spaceship)* and *[Planet B](/source/Planet_B)*, or new acquisitions like *[Night Terrace](/source/Night_Terrace)*. It also sometimes uses [Big Finish Productions](/source/Big_Finish_Productions) of *[Doctor Who](/source/Doctor_Who)*.

Originally aired on BBC 7, it retained the 7 in the name when BBC 7 became BBC Radio 4 Extra.
