**Thad Levine** (born November 12, 1971) is an American [professional baseball](/source/Professional_baseball) executive. He formerly served as the senior VP and [general manager](/source/General_Manager_(baseball)) for the [Minnesota Twins](/source/Minnesota_Twins) of [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) (MLB) from 2017 to 2024.

## Early life and education

Levine was born in [Alexandria, Virginia](/source/Alexandria%2C_Virginia). He played youth soccer with [Paul DePodesta](/source/Paul_DePodesta).[1] Levine attended [Haverford College](/source/Haverford_College), where he played [NCAA Division III](/source/NCAA_Division_III) [college baseball](/source/College_baseball).[1] He attained his bachelor's degree in 1994.[2] He also graduated from the [University of California, Los Angeles](/source/University_of_California%2C_Los_Angeles) in 1999 with an MBA. He has two daughters and a son.

## Career

Levine joined the [Los Angeles Dodgers](/source/Los_Angeles_Dodgers) in business development. He moved to the [Colorado Rockies](/source/Colorado_Rockies) in 1999,[3] and worked there successively as an assistant director, director, and senior director.[4] Levine was appointed to the position of [Texas Rangers](/source/Texas_Rangers_(baseball)) assistant general manager in October 2005.[5][2][6]

Levine was hired as the [Minnesota Twins](/source/Minnesota_Twins)' general manager on November 3, 2016.[7] On October 4, 2024, after 8 years with the Twins, Levine stepped down from his position and departed the organization.[8][9]

The [Milwaukee Brewers](/source/Milwaukee_Brewers) hired Levine as a special advisor on January 10, 2026.[10]
