In 2001 Tesserete municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities [Cagiallo](/source/Cagiallo), [Lopagno](/source/Lopagno), [Roveredo](/source/Roveredo%2C_Ticino), [Sala Capriasca](/source/Sala_Capriasca) and [Vaglio](/source/Vaglio) to form a new and larger municipality [Capriasca](/source/Capriasca).
