**Terry Sanders** (born December 20, 1931) is an American filmmaker and two-time [Academy Award](/source/Academy_Award) winner. He [produced](/source/Film_producer) and/or [directed](/source/Film_director) more than 70 dramatic features, televisions specials, [documentaries](/source/Documentary_film) and portrait [films](/source/Film).

## Career

Sanders co-heads the [American Film Foundation](/source/American_Film_Foundation) and has produced and photographed the Oscar-winning dramatic [short](/source/Short_film) *[A Time Out of War](/source/A_Time_Out_of_War)*. He was second unit director of the aerial scenes in *[Night of the Hunter](/source/The_Night_of_the_Hunter_(film))*. He received an [Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature](/source/Academy_Award_for_Best_Documentary_Feature) in 1994 for *[Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision](/source/Maya_Lin%3A_A_Strong_Clear_Vision)*.[1] He also produced and co-directed *[Crime & Punishment, USA](/source/Crime_%26_Punishment%2C_USA)* with his now-deceased brother, [Denis Sanders](/source/Denis_Sanders). He worked as a producer-director for [Davd Wolper](/source/David_L._Wolper) Productions.
