**Terry Beckner Jr.** (born March 2, 1997) is an American professional [football](/source/American_football) [defensive tackle](/source/Defensive_tackle). He played [college football](/source/College_football) for the [Missouri Tigers](/source/Missouri_Tigers_football). He was selected by the [Tampa Bay Buccaneers](/source/Tampa_Bay_Buccaneers) in the seventh round of the [2019 NFL draft](/source/2019_NFL_draft).

## Early life

In Beckner's final season at East St. Louis, he recorded 107 [tackles](/source/Tackle_move) and 7 [sacks](/source/Qb_sack).[1] He played in the 2015 [Under Armour All-America Game](/source/Under_Armour_All-America_Game).[2]

## College career

Beckner played as a [true freshman](/source/True_freshman) at Missouri, and was named a Freshman [All-American](/source/All-American) by *[Sporting News](/source/Sporting_News)*[3] even though his season ended early after an [MCL](/source/Medial_collateral_ligament) and [ACL tear](/source/Anterior_cruciate_ligament_injury) in his right knee against [Brigham Young](/source/BYU_Cougars_football) on November 14.[4] He had 27 total tackles, 8 being for loss, 3 sacks and a [fumble](/source/Fumble) recovery.[5]

On January 20, 2016, Beckner was arrested during a traffic stop for possession of less than 35 grams of [marijuana](/source/Marijuana), a misdemeanor, while driving a [Chrysler 300](/source/Chrysler_300) through [Columbia](/source/Columbia%2C_Missouri). The following day, Tigers head coach [Barry Odom](/source/Barry_Odom) suspended Beckner indefinitely from the Missouri football team.[6]

Before tearing his ACL in his left knee against Middle Tennessee,[7] Beckner totaled 24 tackles, 2 being for loss, and a fumble recovery in the 2016 season.[8]

## Professional career

### Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Beckner was selected by the [Tampa Bay Buccaneers](/source/Tampa_Bay_Buccaneers) in the seventh round, 215th overall, of the [2019 NFL draft](/source/2019_NFL_draft).[9] On August 31, 2019, Beckner was waived by the Buccaneers and was signed to the [practice squad](/source/Practice_squad) the next day.[10][11] He was suspended for four games by the NFL for violating the league's policy on [performance-enhancing drugs](/source/Performance-enhancing_drugs) on October 21, 2019.[12] He was reinstated from suspension on November 18, 2019, and the Buccaneers released him from their practice squad.

### Chicago Bears

Beckner had a tryout with the [Chicago Bears](/source/Chicago_Bears) on August 20, 2020.[13] He was signed to the team's practice squad on September 29.[14] He was released by the team on October 27.[15]

### Pittsburgh Maulers

Beckner signed with the [Pittsburgh Maulers](/source/Pittsburgh_Maulers_(2022)) of the [United States Football League](/source/United_States_Football_League_(2022)) (USFL) on May 6, 2022,[16] and he was subsequently transferred to the team's inactive roster.[17] He was moved to the active roster on May 14.[18] He was placed on [injured reserve](/source/Injured_reserve) on June 1.[19] Beckner re-signed with the Maulers on August 10, 2023.[20] The Maulers folded when the [XFL](/source/XFL_(2020)) and USFL merged to create the [United Football League](/source/United_Football_League_(2024)) (UFL).[21]

### Calgary Stampeders

On February 14, 2024, Beckner signed with the [Calgary Stampeders](/source/Calgary_Stampeders) of the [Canadian Football League](/source/Canadian_Football_League) (CFL).[22] He was released on May 12, 2024.[23]

### Massachusetts Pirates

On February 14, 2025, Beckner signed with the [Massachusetts Pirates](/source/Massachusetts_Pirates).[24]
