# Terri Hanauer

**Terri Hanauer** (born March 25, 1964,[citation needed] in [Toronto](/source/Toronto), [Ontario](/source/Ontario)) is a Canadian-[American](/source/United_States) actress, [film director](/source/Film_director), screenwriter and [photographer](/source/Photography).

## Biography

Hanauer grew up in Canada and later moved to the [United States](/source/United_States); she holds dual citizenship in both countries. She studied at the [New York University](/source/New_York_University), where she obtained her degree in Theatre Arts. Later she worked as an actress in both America and Canada.[1][2]

Hanauer's debut in movies came in 1977's horror film David Cronenberg's 1977 *[Rabid](/source/Rabid_(1977_film))* which starred [Marilyn Chambers](/source/Marilyn_Chambers) as the lead. Hanauer's death in the film was her getting killed by Chamber's character in a spa, then being put in a medium-sized freeze bitten with rabies. Her death scene is used on mostly all American VHS and DVD covers since the early 80's.[3] at the time of filming, she was credited as Terry Schonblum.[4]

Hanauer began acting under the name Hanauer in 1981 with the television *[Scruples](/source/Scruples_(miniseries))*. Then she played several roles in television films and television series including *[Matlock](/source/Matlock_(1986_TV_series))* (1989), *[Beauty and the Beast](/source/Beauty_and_the_Beast_(1987_TV_series))* (1988–1989) *[Beggars and Choosers](/source/Beggars_and_Choosers_(TV_series))* (2000–2001) and *[Havoc](/source/Havoc_(2005_film))* (2005).

Hanauer also played in the theater, she played at the [Mark Taper Forum](/source/Mark_Taper_Forum) in [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles) and the [Arena Stage](/source/Arena_Stage_(Washington,_D.C.)) in [Washington D.C.](/source/Washington_D.C.)

Hanauer is also an active professional [photographer](/source/Photography) who has photographed over a hundred actors such as [John Glover](/source/John_Glover_(actor)) and others. Her photos appeared in magazines, advertisements and websites.[2]

Because of her background as an actress and photographer decided to do directing and writing . She also wrote the comic theater play *La Ronde De Lunch* at the Skylight Theatre in Los Angeles. She won six LA Stage Scene Awards[citation needed]including Best Director of a Comedy.[2]
