# Terje Haugland

**Terje Haugland** (11 April 1944 – 5 May 2026) was a Norwegian [long jumper](/source/Long_jump).

## Biography

Terje Haugland was born in [Haugesund](/source/Haugesund) on 11 April 1944. He was a nephew of [Jens Edv. Haugland](/source/Jens_Edv._Haugland),[1] son of [Eugen Haugland](/source/Eugen_Haugland) and father of [Hanne Haugland](/source/Hanne_Haugland).

He finished eleventh at the [1969 European Championships](/source/1969_European_Championships_in_Athletics), thirteenth at the [1970 European Indoor Championships](/source/1970_European_Indoor_Championships_in_Athletics) and thirteenth at the [1971 European Championships](/source/1971_European_Championships_in_Athletics). He never competed at the [Summer Olympics](/source/Summer_Olympics).[2] He became Norwegian champion in long jump in 1969 and 1971. He represented [Haugesund IL](/source/Haugesund_IL) and [IK Tjalve](/source/IK_Tjalve).[3]

His personal best jump was 7.87 metres, achieved in July 1970 at [Bislett stadion](/source/Bislett_stadion). This result places him fourth among Norwegian long jumpers, only behind [Kristen Fløgstad](/source/Kristen_Fl%C3%B8gstad), [Finn Bendixen](/source/Finn_Bendixen) and [Thomas Mellin-Olsen](/source/Thomas_Mellin-Olsen).[4]

Haugland died in [Aksdal](/source/Aksdal) on 5 May 2026, at the age of 82.[5]
