# Teresva

**Teresva** (Ukrainian: Тересва, German: *Theresiental*, Romanian: *Teresva*, Hungarian: *Taracköz*, Slovak: *Terešva*) is a [rural settlement](/source/Populated_places_in_Ukraine#Rural_settlements) in [Tiachiv Raion](/source/Tiachiv_Raion) ([district](/source/Raion)) of [Zakarpattia Oblast](/source/Zakarpattia_Oblast) ([region](/source/Oblast)) in western [Ukraine](/source/Ukraine).[1] It is situated at the confluence of the rivers [Tisza](/source/Tisza) and [Teresva](/source/Teresva_(river)). The town's population was 7,554 at the [2001 Ukrainian Census](/source/Ukrainian_Census_(2001)).[1] Current population is .

## History

Until 26 January 2024, Teresva was designated [urban-type settlement](/source/Urban-type_settlement). On this day, a new law entered into force which abolished this status, and Teresva became a rural settlement.[2]

In 2023 the rail line between Teresva and Romania reopened.[3]
