**Tenorio Rock** ([62°28′S 59°44′W](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=62_28_S_59_44_W)) is a rock 0.4 nautical miles (0.7 km) offshore in western Discovery Bay, [Greenwich Island](/source/Greenwich_Island), [South Shetland Islands](/source/South_Shetland_Islands).[1] The [Chilean Antarctic Expedition](/source/Chilean_Antarctic_Expedition) of 1947, under the command of Captain Federico Guesalaga Toro, conducted a comprehensive [survey](/source/Surveying) of the bay and named the feature Aviador Tenorio Islet after Lieutenant [Humbert Tenorio Iturra](/source/Humbert_Tenorio_Iturra) of the [Chilean Air Force](/source/Chilean_Air_Force), second pilot of the Sikorsky helicopter employed by the survey.[2][3] Chilean hydrographic charts of the 1950s show the name "[Islote Tenorio](/source/Islote_Tenorio)" and "[Islote Aviador Tenorio](/source/Islote_Aviador_Tenorio)".
