# Tenomerga

***Tenomerga*** is a genus of beetles in the family [Cupedidae](/source/Cupedidae). This genus has about 17 extant species, which are native to the eastern [Palearctic](/source/Palearctic_realm), [Nearctic](/source/Nearctic) and [Oriental](/source/Indomalayan_realm) regions.[1]

In a recent phylogenetic analysis, the species *[Tenomerga leucophaea](/source/Tenomerga_leucophaea)* was found to form a [monophyletic group](/source/Monophyletic_group) with *[Cupes capitatus](/source/Cupes_capitatus)* and *[Rhipsideigma](/source/Rhipsideigma)*, rendering *Tenomerga* [polyphyletic](/source/Polyphyly).[2] Because of this, some researchers have proposed transferring *T. leucophaea* to *[Cupes](/source/Cupes)*.[3]
