It then goes north through Fairview and has an intersection and short concurrency with [SR 227](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_227) before continuing north, crossing under, and paralleling the [Natchez Trace Parkway](/source/Natchez_Trace_Parkway) for a few miles to [Collinwood](/source/Collinwood,_Tennessee), where it intersects with [SR 203](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_203). It then goes through downtown and has an interchange with the Natchez Trace before finally leaving it and continuing north. SR 13 goes through some rural mountains and farmland before entering [Waynesboro](/source/Waynesboro,_Tennessee). It goes through downtown, passing by the Wayne County Courthouse, before having an interchange with [US 64](/source/U.S._Route_64_in_Tennessee)/[SR 15](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_15) before leaving Waynesboro and continuing north. It then goes through more before curving through some mountains and intersecting [SR 228](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_228). It then exits these mountains and crosses a narrow valley, where it has a crossing of the [Buffalo River](/source/Buffalo_River_(Tennessee)), before intersecting [SR 48](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_48) and returning to the mountains and crosses into Perry County.[4]

SR 13 does parallel the [Green River](/source/Green_River_(Tennessee)) for the majority of its course.[4]

### Perry County

SR 13 then heads northeast and has another Buffalo river crossing, this time over a very tall bridge, before turning north again. It then intersects [SR 128](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_128) before entering [Linden](/source/Linden,_Tennessee). In Linden, it intersects with [US 412](/source/U.S._Route_412_in_Tennessee)/[SR 100](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_100)/[SR 20](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_20), while bypassing downtown to the east. It then leaves Linden and continues north. It passes through Lobelville and continues north, still paralleling and also crossing the Buffalo River before crossing into Humphreys County.[4]

From Waverly, SR 13 continues north to cross into Houston County.[4]

### Houston County

SR 13 then turns east and has an intersection with [SR 46](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_46) just south of [Cumberland City](/source/Cumberland_City,_Tennessee) before entering Montgomery County.[4]

### Montgomery County

It then passes south of [Oak Ridge](/source/Oak_Ridge,_Montgomery_County,_Tennessee) and intersects [SR 235](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_235) before entering [Cunningham](/source/Cunningham,_Montgomery_County,_Tennessee), where it intersects and becomes concurrent with [SR 48](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_48). In Clarksville, it becomes concurrent to [US 41A Bypass](/source/U.S._Route_41A_Bypass_(Clarksville,_Tennessee)) (US 41A Byp)/[SR 12](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_12). They then start going up the west side of the city, SR 48 separates and turns east, while US 41A Byp/SR 12/SR 13 continues north to an intersection with [US 41A](/source/U.S._Route_41A_in_Tennessee)/[US 79](/source/U.S._Route_79_in_Tennessee)/[SR 76](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_76), where SR 13 leaves the bypass and heads east with US 79 and has another short concurrency with SR 48, where they cross the [Red River](/source/Red_River_(Tennessee)) and pass by [Dunbar Cave State Park](/source/Dunbar_Cave_State_Park), before having an interchange with [SR 374](/source/Tennessee_State_Route_374) (101st Airborne Division Parkway).
