## History

The company was founded by [Swedish](/source/Swedes) singer, composer and producer, [Ola Håkansson](/source/Ola_H%C3%A5kansson) in 2003, in [Stockholm](/source/Stockholm), [Sweden](/source/Sweden).

Håkansson originally founded [Stockholm Records](/source/Stockholm_Records) in 1992 with [Alexander Bard](/source/Alexander_Bard) as a joint venture with distributor, [PolyGram](/source/PolyGram). In 1998, Håkansson and Bard sold their shares in Stockholm Records to [Universal Music Group](/source/Universal_Music_Group), who had purchased Stockholm's distributor, [PolyGram](/source/PolyGram) in 1995.[4][1]

In 2003, the company was founded as a [publishing](/source/Music_publisher_(popular_music)) and [production](/source/Record_producer) company which employed ex-Stockholm Records' songwriters and producers. In 2007, Håkansson turned the company into an independent [record label](/source/Record_label), publishing, [songwriting](/source/Songwriter), [management](/source/Talent_manager) and [production house](/source/Production_company), known as a [360-degree company](/source/360_deal), drawing inspiration from the business structures of [Atlantic Records](/source/Atlantic_Records), [Island](/source/The_Island_Def_Jam_Music_Group) and [Motown](/source/Motown).[1]

In May 2013, the company formed an alliance with [Sony Music](/source/Sony_Music) to handle select international releases for artists signed with Ten, and provide music recording and company facilities in [London](/source/London), [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles) and [New York](/source/New_York_(state)).[5]
