Dean Carlson of [AllMusic](/source/AllMusic) wrote that "Squiggling past looping divas, afternoon glares, and funkadelic body bops, De Crecy manages to manufacture a trail of songs that reach for that Anglo-French brass ring with nothing but admirable gravitas". He found "Out of My Hands" to have "bouncing squelches in the [Zombie Nation](/source/Zombie_Nation_(musician))-vein" and "Relax" to have "classically skewed [big beat](/source/big_beat) stomps", and concluded that the album is "probably a response to seeing De Crecy's own [Air](/source/Air_(French_band))/[Daft Punk](/source/Daft_Punk) disciples get the coiffured crossover treatment", hence its "pop diva production".<ref name="AM"/> ''[Blender](/source/Blender_(magazine))'' felt that listening to the album is "all in all, time well spent".<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.metacritic.com/music/tempovision/etienne-de-crecy|title=Tempovision by Etienne de Crécy Reviews and Tracks|publisher=[Metacritic](/source/Metacritic)|access-date=5 February 2023}}</ref>

Reviewing the album for ''[musicOMH](/source/musicOMH)'', Michael Hubbard found that "really on the whole it is [chill-out](/source/Chill-out_music) room material, full of time signature changes (When Jack Met Jill) and random relaxing rhythms (Noname)", calling "Am I Wrong" the exception as it is "full of flangey synth, a riotous beat, diva-esque backing vocals and funky bass". Hubbard concluded that the listener should "switch off the lights and let [their] mind switch off", as "it is in such an environment that ''Tempovision'' comes across best".<ref name="OMH">{{cite web|url=https://www.musicomh.com/reviews/albums/etienne-de-crecy-tempovision|title=Etienne de Crecy – Tempovision {{!}} Album Reviews|website=[musicOMH](/source/musicOMH)|last=Hubbard|first=Michael|date=23 October 2000|access-date=5 February 2023}}</ref>
