In May 1930, when Takeuchi was a [Tokyo Imperial University](/source/University_of_Tokyo) student, he was selected [Japan national team](/source/Japan_national_football_team) for [1930 Far Eastern Championship Games](/source/Football_at_the_1930_Far_Eastern_Championship_Games) in [Tokyo](/source/Tokyo) and Japan won the championship. At this competition, on 25 May, he debuted against [Philippines](/source/Philippines_national_football_team). In 1936, he was selected Japan for [1936 Summer Olympics](/source/Football_at_the_1936_Summer_Olympics) in [Berlin](/source/Berlin) and he played 2 games as Japan team captain.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.olympedia.org/athletes/26209 |title=Teizo Takeuchi |work=Olympedia |access-date=23 September 2021}}</ref> Japan completed a come-from-behind victory first game against [Sweden](/source/Sweden_men's_national_football_team). The first victory in Olympics for the Japan and the historic victory over one of the powerhouses became later known as "Miracle of Berlin" ([ベルリンの奇跡](/source/%3Aja%3A%E3%83%99%E3%83%AB%E3%83%AA%E3%83%B3%E3%81%AE%E5%A5%87%E8%B7%A1)) in Japan. In 2016, this team was selected [Japan Football Hall of Fame](/source/Japan_Football_Hall_of_Fame). ==Death==
In 1944, Takeuchi served in the military for [World War II](/source/World_War_II) and was detained in the [Soviet Union](/source/Soviet_Union) following the war ([Japanese prisoners of war in the Soviet Union](/source/Japanese_prisoners_of_war_in_the_Soviet_Union)).
