The ancient town has been tentatively identified with ruins either at ''Tell El-Caid'', one of three [tell](/source/Tell_(archaeology)) at [Aïn-Tlit](/source/A%C3%AFn-Tlit) or Henchir Kahloulta in the region of [Carthage](/source/Carthage), [Tunisia](/source/Tunisia).
The ancient town<ref>J. Mesnage, ''L'Afrique chrétienne'', (Paris, 1912), pp.88–89</ref> is known to history as the home of the [Donatist](/source/Donatist) [Bishop](/source/Bishop) Donato, who intervened at the [Council of Carthage (411)](/source/Council_of_Carthage_(411)), it seems that time the town had no Catholic bishop.
