He spent two seasons ([1961](/source/1961%E2%80%9362_NBA_season)–[1963](/source/1962%E2%80%9363_NBA_season)) in the [National Basketball Association](/source/National_Basketball_Association) (NBA).

A 6'6" forward who attended Elkhart High School and the [University of Houston](/source/University_of_Houston), Luckenbill was selected by the [Philadelphia Warriors](/source/Philadelphia_Warriors) in the [1961 NBA draft](/source/1961_NBA_draft). He would later play in [Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game](/source/Wilt_Chamberlain's_100-point_game).
