==Biography==
Born in [Pennsylvania](/source/Pennsylvania), Webster moved with his parents to Ohio in 1806, where he received a limited schooling. He briefly attended [Miami University](/source/Miami_University) in [Oxford](/source/Oxford%2C_Ohio), Ohio. He was editor and publisher of ''The Western Telegraph'' in [Hamilton](/source/Hamilton%2C_Ohio), Ohio, from 1828 to 1836. He served as clerk of the [Ohio House of Representatives](/source/Ohio_House_of_Representatives) in 1829 and as a member of that body from 1831 to 1832.

Webster was elected as a [Jacksonian](/source/Andrew_Jackson) to the [Twenty-third](/source/23rd_United_States_Congress) and [Twenty-fourth](/source/24th_United_States_Congress) Congresses and as a [Democrat](/source/Democratic_Party_(United_States)) to the [Twenty-fifth](/source/25th_United_States_Congress) Congress (March 4, 1833 &ndash; March 3, 1839). From 1842 to 1846, he was clerk of court of [Butler County](/source/Butler_County%2C_Ohio), Ohio. Thereafter he resumed his business pursuits.

===Later career and death ===
In 1863, he relocated to [New Orleans](/source/New_Orleans), [Louisiana](/source/Louisiana), to work in a clerical position and died there fourteen years later. He is interred at [Lafayette Cemetery No. 1](/source/Lafayette_Cemetery_No._1) in New Orleans.
