**Taparko** is a locality located in the [Yalgo department](/source/Yalgo_Department) of the [Namentenga province](/source/Namentenga_Province) in the [Centre-Nord region](/source/Centre-Nord_Region) of [Burkina Faso](/source/Burkina_Faso).

## Geography

Taparko is located about 12 km southwest of the center of [Yalgo](/source/Yalgo), the capital of the [department](/source/Yalgo_Department). ## Economy

The economy of Taparko, historically agro-pastoral, was profoundly changed with the opening in 2008 of the [open-pit](/source/Open-pit_mining) [gold mine](/source/Gold_mining) operated by the [Russian](/source/Russia) company [Nordgold](/source/Nordgold)[1][2][3]– with however insufficient benefits for the village population, particularly in terms of jobs[4] – but whose production has been tending towards the end since 2019.[5]

## Education and health

Taparko hosts a health and social promotion center (CSPS) while the medical center (CM) is in [Tougouri](/source/Tougouri_Department) and the medical center with surgical antenna (CMA) of the province is in [Boulsa](/source/Boulsa).[6]
