# Tanybria

***Tanybria*** is a genus of [leaf beetles](/source/Leaf_beetle) in the subfamily [Eumolpinae](/source/Eumolpinae).[2] It is distributed in [Africa](/source/Africa).

*Tanybria* was originally known as *Eubrachis*, in the sense of [Burgeon](/source/Louis_Burgeon), who gave a description of the genus in 1940. However, this name was unavailable, as it was preoccupied by *Eubrachis* as first used by [Dejean](/source/Pierre_Fran%C3%A7ois_Marie_Auguste_Dejean) in his catalogue in 1836 (as an unnecessary replacement name for *[Pseudocolaspis](/source/Pseudocolaspis)*), and *Eubrachis* in the sense of [Joseph Sugar Baly](/source/Joseph_Sugar_Baly) in 1878 (now a synonym of *[Macrocoma](/source/Macrocoma)*). Because of this, Burgeon's *Eubrachis* was renamed to *Tanybria* by Brian J. Selman in 1963.[1]
