**João Carlos Araújo Fonseca Silva** (born 30 August 1989), known as **Talocha**, is a Portuguese professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as a [left-back](/source/Defender_(association_football)#Full-back) for [Liga 3](/source/Liga_3_(Portugal)) club [Varzim](/source/Varzim_S.C.).

## Club career

Born in Antas, [Vila Nova de Famalicão](/source/Vila_Nova_de_Famalic%C3%A3o), Talocha developed at [F.C. Famalicão](/source/F.C._Famalic%C3%A3o), and played his first senior matches for his hometown club in the lower divisions, including their 2008–09 nadir in the [Braga Football Association](/source/Braga_Football_Association)'s first district league. He transferred across the [third tier](/source/Campeonato_de_Portugal_(league)) to [F.C. Vizela](/source/F.C._Vizela) in 2013. On 17 December of the following year, he scored twice against [Sporting CP](/source/Sporting_CP) in the [last 16](/source/2014%E2%80%9315_Ta%C3%A7a_de_Portugal) of the [Taça de Portugal](/source/Ta%C3%A7a_de_Portugal), albeit in a 3–2 home loss.[2]

On 29 May 2016, Talocha jumped two divisions to the [Primeira Liga](/source/Primeira_Liga), signing for [Boavista F.C.](/source/Boavista_F.C.) on a two-year deal.[3] He made his professional debut in the [season](/source/2016%E2%80%9317_Primeira_Liga)-opening 2–0 home win over [F.C. Arouca](/source/F.C._Arouca), on 14 August.[4] Having barely missed a game, he got his first goal on 14 January 2018 to open a win by the same score against [Portimonense S.C.](/source/Portimonense_S.C.) also at the [Estádio do Bessa](/source/Est%C3%A1dio_do_Bessa), after a [free kick](/source/Free_kick_(association_football)) by [David Simão](/source/David_Sim%C3%A3o).[5]

When Talocha was about to become a [free agent](/source/Free_agent) in May 2018, Boavista gave him a new deal for the next two years.[6] A year later, he completed a century of appearances with the side from [Porto](/source/Porto) in a match with [C.S. Marítimo](/source/C.S._Mar%C3%ADtimo), amidst interest from other clubs.[7]

On 5 August 2019, Talocha reached an agreement to end his contract with a year remaining and headed abroad for the first time, to [Atromitos F.C.](/source/Atromitos_F.C.) in [Super League Greece](/source/Super_League_Greece); his former employers remained 20% of his economic rights.[8] He switched to the [Latvian Higher League](/source/Latvian_Higher_League) the following [transfer window](/source/Transfer_window), joining champions [Riga FC](/source/Riga_FC).[9]

Talocha returned to the [Portuguese top flight](/source/Portuguese_football_league_system) on 7 August 2020, signing a two-year deal with [Gil Vicente F.C.](/source/Gil_Vicente_F.C.)[10] He then moved to the [Liga Portugal 2](/source/Liga_Portugal_2) with [S.C. Farense](/source/S.C._Farense),[11] achieving promotion in the [2022–23 campaign](/source/2022%E2%80%9323_Liga_Portugal_2).[12]

On 21 August 2024, Talocha joined second-tier [C.D. Tondela](/source/C.D._Tondela) on a two-year contract.[13] He totalled 30 matches in his [only season](/source/2024%E2%80%9325_Liga_Portugal_2) as they promoted as champions, but was not retained subsequently.[14]

In September 2025, aged 36, Talocha signed for [Liga 3](/source/Liga_3_(Portugal)) club [Varzim SC](/source/Varzim_S.C.).[15]
