# Talmine, Sutherland

**Talmine** is a crofting and fishing township, overlooking [Talmine Bay](/source/Talmine_Bay), an inlet on the western shore of [Tongue Bay](/source/Tongue_Bay)[1] in northern [Sutherland](/source/Sutherland), [Scottish Highlands](/source/Scottish_Highlands) and is in the [Scottish](/source/Scotland) council area of [Highland](/source/Highland_Council_area). The *Reaper*, an old fishing boat located within the bay. She can be seen in the photo to the right, on the beach, underneath/between the stone building and blue car roughly centre image.

The township is located 2 miles from the nearest main road, the [A838](/source/A838_road) and is about 4 miles from [Tongue](/source/Tongue,_Highland), the nearest decently sized town. It is located directly north of [Midtown](/source/Melness) and Directly South of [Midfield](/source/Midfield,_Highland) and [Achininver](/source/Achininver).[2]
