# Taleqan Dam

**Taleqan Dam** (Persian: سد طالقان), also **Talaqan Dam**, is a [hydroelectric dam](/source/Hydroelectric_dam) in Iran with an installed electricity generating capability of 18 MW.[1] It is one of the five main water sources for the Tehran metropolitan.[1] it is situated in [Alborz Province](/source/Alborz_Province).[2][3] downstream of [Alborz province](/source/Alborz_province)[4] and incorporates a pipe line to [Hashtgerd](/source/Hashtgerd).[5]

It was constructed between 2002 and 2006 on the [Shahrud](/source/Shahrud_(river))[6] and Taleghan Rivers creating the Taleghan reservoir.[7] The dam can hold 420 million cubic meters of water.[1]
