**Takeda** (武田, *Takeda, "*warrior rice paddy*"*) or **Takeda** (竹田, *Takeda, "*bamboo rice paddy*"*) is a [Japanese](/source/Japanese_name) family name.[1] Throughout the course of the [Sengoku period](/source/Sengoku_period) (16th century) of Japan, the famed [Takeda clan](/source/Takeda_clan) of [Kai Province](/source/Kai_Province) had many descendant branch families.
