The **Taillefer Rocks**, part of the [Schouten Island](/source/Schouten_Island) Group, are three small, rugged, [granite](/source/Granite) islands, with a combined area of approximately 15 hectares (37 acres) lying close to the eastern coast of Tasmania, Australia, near the [Freycinet Peninsula](/source/Freycinet_Peninsula) and lies within the [Freycinet National Park](/source/Freycinet_National_Park).[1][2]

## Flora and fauna

This is one of the few islands where [Oyster Bay pines](/source/Oyster_Bay_pine) occur.

Recorded breeding [seabird](/source/Seabird) species are [little penguin](/source/Little_penguin), [short-tailed shearwater](/source/Short-tailed_shearwater), [fairy prion](/source/Fairy_prion) and [common diving petrel](/source/Common_diving_petrel). [Reptiles](/source/Reptile) present include the [metallic skink](/source/Metallic_skink), [White's skink](/source/White's_skink), [spotted skink](/source/Carinascincus_ocellatus) and [mountain dragon](/source/Mountain_dragon). [Australian fur seals](/source/Arctocephalus_pusillus) [haul-out](/source/Hauling-out) there in small numbers.[2]
