The '''Tagil''' ({{langx|ru|Тагил}}) is a river in [Sverdlovsk Oblast](/source/Sverdlovsk_Oblast), [Russia](/source/Russia). It is {{convert|414|km|mi}} long, with a [drainage basin](/source/drainage_basin) of {{convert|10100|km2|mi2}}. The average discharge is {{convert|40|m3/s|cuft/s}}.<ref name=gvr>{{GVR|196425|Река Тагил}}</ref> The river has its sources on the eastern slopes of the [Ural Mountains](/source/Ural_Mountains), east of [Verkhny Tagil](/source/Verkhny_Tagil). From there, the Tagil flows north towards [Nizhny Tagil](/source/Nizhny_Tagil), and then in a northeasterly direction to its confluence with the [Tura](/source/Tura_(river)).

The [Salda](/source/Salda_(Tagil)) is a southern tributary. A northern tributary, the Barancha, was probably used by [Yermak Timofeyevich](/source/Yermak_Timofeyevich) on his way to capture the Khanate of Sibir.
